On a daily basis I find myself thinking about the next test, the upcoming weekend, how much homework I have to get done, and the list of things I need to do before the day is over. In and of themselves, these are not bad things to think about; however, when our thoughts become focused on worldly things and less on God, we have forgotten our purpose.
John 3:30 – “We must decrease so He may increase.”
Yes, this Bible verse does relate to humbling ourselves, but it also makes me think that we should be way more focused on God and His purpose for our lives than what is going on in the world around us. It’s a matter of priority. To put things bluntly, we were created for God’s pleasure and to bring Him glory and honor.
According to Rick Warren, the author of A Purpose Driven Life, "God did not need to create you, but He chose to create you for His own enjoyment. You exist for His benefit, His glory, His purpose, and His delight."
So as we go through our day today, I challenge us to fix our thoughts on Christ and continually ask ourselves if how we are living at this present moment is honoring to God.
May the Lord be with you.
In Christ,
Shannon

LYRICS:
“You formed us from the dust
You breathed Your breath in us
We are the work of Your hands
Now we breathe back to You
Love songs of gratitude
Adoring You with all we have
We were created
To worship Your name
We were created to bring You our praise
If we don’t worship You
We’ll search for substitutes
To fill the void in our souls
Worshipping other things
Destroys our liberty
But as we praise You we are free
We were created
To worship Your name
We were created to bring You our praise
So we will worship, so we will praise
You our Creator, for all our days
This is what we were made to do
This is what we were made to do
So we lift up our praise to You”
