Faith Like A Rock

Faith Like A Rock

Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

Tonight, while watching the movie “King Arthur,” I was inspired by the faith of the main character, Arthur. Here is an excerpt from a dialogue between him and Lancelot where Arthur defends his faith to the Lord.

[Lancelot finds Arthur praying in the stable]
Lancelot: Why do you always talk to God and not to me? Pray to whomever you pray that we don't cross the Saxons.
Arthur: My faith is what protects me, Lancelot. Why do you challenge this?
Lancelot: I don't like anything that puts a man on his knees.
Arthur: No man fears to kneel before the God he trusts. Without faith, without belief in something, what are we?

Doesn’t that last line touch your heart?! :) King Arthur acknowledges the importance of humbling himself before the Lord and he reminds us that when we trust God, we are trusting His will for our lives before our own. And how cool is it to have something to stand for?! This reminds me of the quote, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.”

Do we have the kind of faith that can stand the test of time? How about the test of trials or persecution? King Arthur sure did! Another man of God who demonstrated great faith was Abraham. Abraham is known as the “Father of the faithful.” He was continually faithful in putting God first. When God asked him to sacrifice his son, he displayed great trust and confidence in God by his willingness to do so. (see Genesis 22:1-2,9-14)

“A little stone with big faith can conquer a big giant with a little god.”

May we grow in our knowledge of the Lord and be rooted in our faith. Let us stand up for Him always and continually trust Him with our lives.

In Christ,
Shannon
